Leadership, Service & Industry Recognition
With deep roots in the 9th Bristol District and decades of professional and community experience, Steve is committed to ensuring that the voices of the 9th Bristol District in Dartmouth and New Bedford are heard and represented.
Background
Faith and family are the cornerstones of Steve’s life. His wife, Sue, has served the community as an oncology nurse at St. Anne’s Hospital for 28 years, and together they raised two sons: Tyler, a sophomore engineering student and track athlete at UMass Amherst, and Nathan, a senior at Dartmouth High involved in the band and track team. As a lifelong member of St. Julie Billiart Parish, Steve has served on the Parish Council and remains an active volunteer with the Knights of Columbus, continuing a family legacy of service shared by many of his large extended family .
Steve is a firm believer that community is built through participation. Whether coaching youth sports for the YMCA, DYSA and DYAA, or raising funds for the New Bedford Boys and Girls Club through the pickup basketball nights he still runs today, he remains deeply invested in local youth. When he isn’t on the court or cheering for the Celtics, he is usually found behind a grill or smoker, entertaining friends and family. Steve is running for State Representative to ensure that the unique character and strong values of Dartmouth and New Bedford are preserved for future generations.

Leadership, Policy & Advocacy
Steve Medeiros has built a career defined by leadership, collaboration, and a deep understanding of how policy decisions affect everyday people. His professional journey in real estate placed him at the center of conversations about housing, economic growth, and community development—issues that directly impact families across Southeastern Massachusetts.
As President of the Southeastern Massachusetts Association of REALTORS®, Steve represented hundreds of professionals across the region, helping guide organizational strategy, promote ethical standards, and advocate for responsible growth in local communities. This role required balancing diverse viewpoints, working with municipal leaders, and ensuring that both industry professionals and the public were served with transparency and accountability.
At the state level, Steve also held leadership roles with the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR), where he contributed to broader policy discussions and professional standards that shaped the housing landscape across the Commonwealth. Serving as the VP of Government Affairs in 2017 and then State President of MAR in 2021, representing 32,000+ REALTORS across the state, he advocated in front of multiple committees on Beacon Hill. His involvement provided firsthand experience navigating regulatory frameworks, understanding statewide economic trends, and collaborating with stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.

Steve meets regularly with legislators on both the State and Federal level to advocate for Private Property Rights, Home Ownership and preserving the American Dream. This experience strengthened his understanding of how laws are formed, how advocacy influences decision-making, and how to effectively represent the interests of constituents while maintaining integrity and professionalism.
Volunteerism & Community Involvement
Giving back to the community that has given so much to my family and me isn’t just a choice—it’s a core value. My parents and grandparents taught me that integrity and hard work are best used when they are in service of others. Whether it’s coaching youth sports, serving on town committees, or supporting local non-profits, I believe that active involvement is the key to a thriving, connected community.
A Lifetime of Local Service
For over four decades, I have been deeply embedded in the fabric of Dartmouth and New Bedford through various leadership and volunteer roles:

-

-
Youth & Education: Dedicated years to mentoring local youth as a coach for the Dartmouth Youth Athletic Association(Baseball & Basketball), DYSA Soccer, and the YMCA. I also actively support the Dartmouth School Music Association through fundraising and props.
-
Faith & Community Support: Served for 10+ years as an alter server. Served for 7 years on the Youth Group Advisory Board. Served on the St. Julie’s Parish Council and am a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus (honored as “Shining Knight” in 2016).
-
Non-Profit Advocacy: Served as President and Board Member for the Sharing a Blessing Soup Kitchen and have been a consistent volunteer and fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of New Bedford since 2010.
I am running for State Representative because I want to bring this same spirit of service and hands-on involvement to Beacon Hill, ensuring our community has a dedicated voice that truly understands our local needs.
